- Price – This may vary considerably depend on whether the caller is using a band or recorded music, type of dance (square, contra, variety-specialty dances.) The type of crowd (beginner dancers, experienced dancers or mixed, average age, mobility and the purpose of the event).
- Pre-recorded music or a band – Bands add great ambiance and authenticity to the occasion. However, pre-recorded will allow for a more rapid progress in teaching and a wider variety of “specialty dances (lines, solo, Country & Western couples, swing, ballroom etc.) Many callers will only work with a band or recorded but not both. However, there are those that will work with both.
- Size of the dance floor and the expected crowd will need to be evaluated.
- Does the caller carry insurance and can the caller provide you with a Certificate of Insurance and perhaps “additional Insured” status.
- If using recorded music are they BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) and ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) licensed.
- Specialty music that may be needed.
- Special situations such as children, youths, older, or disabilities. etc.
- Duration of the job/show.
